any other和other的区别？

注意any other的用法,是指在同一范围内除了某人或某物以外的其他人或事物,any other后跟单数名词,也可以说any of the other+复数名词.如：
Tom runs faster than any other student(或any of the other students)in his class.
汤姆比他班上的任何人都跑得快.
Shanghai is langer than other city in China.
上海比中国的任何一个城市都大.
【注】但比和被比的人或物不在同一范围或不属同一类别,就不用other.如：
Shanghai is larger than any city in India.
上海比印度的任何城市都大.
Painting leaves more impression on people than any form of literature.
绘画给人们的印象比任何文学形式都要深.
any other +名词复数 和any other +名词单数都可以.两者区别主要在于比较句中.比如:You are studying harder than any other student.主语you是单数,后面与之比较的要对应着用单数；再比如：The players of Inter Milian are strenger than any other players of South Korea,前后比较的都是复数名词.
other只表示别的,其它的,不表示别的任何东西.
我是初二的学生,昨天英语老师讲“any other" 后面是加单数,可是书P79里的又是加的复数,原句是这样滴“ like cats best because they are cuter than any other animals”
“any other”后面到底跟复数还是单数啊?
any other作为一个短语出现的时候后面接单数.
上面的像猫一样的那句话,any表示任何的,是限定范围的,除了猫以外任何的other animals（其它动物）,动物种类很多就用复数
any other后面可以接单数,也可以接复数,但是比较级中,后面只能接单数.
