中外文化交流史课堂上，老师为了方便我们的理解，播放了一部反映中美文化差异的电影《刮痧》，使我对以美国为代表的中西文化差异有了更深了解。
中国是一个有着五千年文化和历史沉淀的泱泱大国，而美国是一个多民族的国家，只有200多年的历史。中美之间的文化差异是巨大的，这是历史地理条件以及传统思想等多种因素影响而造成的。
中国的传统文化是以儒家思想为核心，历来主张尊卑有别，长幼有序，并受到等级观念的制约。而美国文化主要承袭了基督教中的新教思想，等级观念淡薄。他们更注重个人权益，追求人人平等，没有辈份间过多的礼节。在《刮痧》许大同自己发达以后，将老父亲接到美国照顾，这是典型的中国人的思维，虽然父亲对新的生活不能适应，但内心还是非常幸福的，并且认为这样自己可以好好地孝敬父亲。
电影中的另一个情节是儿子丹尼斯和朋友的儿子打架，许大同为给朋友面子当众体罚自己的孩子，并坚称：“打是疼骂是爱”而且这种当众体罚是对另一方的尊重。然而这种思想对于美国人是不可理解的，这也是后来因为刮痧而引起的争论中美国人认为许大同有着虐待儿童倾向的一个论据。
《刮痧》中最重要的中美文化冲突是体现在一种中国传统中医治疗方法——刮痧。丹尼斯感冒了，华人家庭用刮痧方法治疗，却遭到儿童保护组织的控告，因为他们这是对儿童的一种虐待，这场误会最终虽然消除了，但却给许大同的生活带来了灾难性的后果。中、西方文化之间巨大的鸿沟，以及相互了解的不对称性使得美国人无法理解针灸，火罐，刮痧等一系列很传统的中医治疗方法。作为西方国家代表的美国是经济发达的国家，所以自身就会产生一种文化优越感，不可能主动去了解别的民族文化传统。但作为中国人，我们要增进文化交流，不仅仅要多学习西方文化，同时也应该积极地将本民族的文化向世界传播。
《刮痧》所表现的中国人和美国人的差异，不仅在中美两国的法律、道德标准等方面，而且触及法理、观念，甚至中医理论等诸多议题。中美之间文化差异还表现在很多方面，例如美国人习惯用肢体语言拥抱、亲吻等来表达人与人之间的友好和亲近，当人们相互交流时，美国人认为互相注视着对方的眼腈是一件十分重要的事。然而在中国，我们是不善于这种肢体交流的，很多情况下我们还认为直视一个人的眼睛是不谦虚或不尊重对方的表现。这种体现在思维方式，风俗习惯，宗教信仰和非语言交际上的差异是中美乃至中西方在经济文化政治方面有着冲突的一个不可忽略的重要原因。
时空上的差异造成了中美—东西方文化、观念上的不同，进而表现为行为上的冲突。差异性从时间上来说，主要表现为国家的传统与现代之间的矛盾；从空间上来说，由于各国在地域、历史、政治、经济等方面的原因造成了中西方的差异，表现为民族传统精神背景、文化背景、哲学背景等方面。中、西两种文明之间存在文化差异是可以理解的，也是不可避免，要消除这种文化隔阂，就必须要相互增进了解，只有这样才有可能消除误会，正如周总理所说我们要求同存异，相信“无论是怎样的文化沟壑，只要相互交流就能达到谅解。”
中美文化有着差异的同时，也有着对文化趋同、文化融合的一种向往。我要保持文化鲜活性与多元性的同时，增进对彼此的了解，加强交流和沟通，希望在不久的将来，一个“大同”的世界真的会出现在我们面前！
