当然,英式英语和美式英语之间确实存在着一些差别。
很多的差别存在于语法之间。举个例子，英式英语说“in hospital” 和“Have you a pen?”（在医院 你有铅笔吗？） 然而美式英语却说“in the hospital”和“Do you have a pen?”
发音有时候也是不同的。美国人常在bird（鸟）和hurt（受伤）中听到r这个发音。而英国人却不能在这些词中听到r这个发音。
在英式英语和美式英语之间词汇也存在着差异，例如，“colour（颜色）”和“honour（荣誉）” 是英国人的写法，而美国人却写成“color”和“honor”。
在语法，发音，拼写和词汇中的差别并不是那么重要，然而在多数情况下，英式英语和美式英语是两种相似的语言。
